The current pandemic has held us stranded in our homes but with the help of
technology we have begun to move towards the new normal. Nothing could ever
stop our children from exploring and learning from their environment. To
inculcate experiential learning Rishs International School has embarked on a new
journey, to offer the students an access to the outside world through virtual
reality. Our virtual tour initiative will spark the interest among the young minds
on various subjects related to their everyday learning. The students get to have
virtual walks with their teachers and experience live visuals and sounds. Although
it’s online, it refreshes the young minds from their mundane routine and appeals
to their senses.
The first virtual tour for grade I to II was conducted on 6th of August, 2021 which
highlighted the importance of growing, maintaining and preserving the plant life.
Roof gardens are a great way of growing plants in the city as they occupy less
space. The students were introduced to terrace gardening and were informed of
its several benefits. They gained insight on the names and uses of various
ornamental and medicinal plants such as crotons, Insulin, Aloe Vera and herbs.
The virtual tour gave them the experience of walking in a garden filled with
colourful flowers, shrubs, creepers, climbers and trees. The children were asked to
identify certain plants and trees which they were already familiar with. The
students imbibed some general information on how to use certain gardening tools
and techniques to maintain the plants. They were finally assessed through a
series of questions based on their understanding and observations. It was a fun
way of learning and the students enjoyed the overall adventure.
Some of the moments that were captured during the virtual tour are attached
below for you to cherish the moment.
